What is included in the 15 minute track?
Our 15 minute track is the shortest length track available on our site.
Is your music available for me to purchase anywhere?
No. The music you see on ZRF is only available for purchase from ZRF. ZRF owns the copyright on all of our music.
Once I have purchased music, can I return the track for a refund if I am not happy?
No. As our tracks are instantly downloadable, we do not offer returns on our music – unless there has been an error with delivery of the product.
Can I upload the music I’ve purchased to iTunes?
You can only upload our music to iTunes if you’ve added voice to your final recording (E.g. a guided spoken meditation) You cannot sell our tracks as standalone versions of your work on iTunes or any other streaming platform or service.
Can I sing or play music over the top of the ZRF works and make it my own recording?
No. Your licence does not cover you to purchase our music and make it your own. You can add spoken voice, edit, fade in or out our music and adjust lengths to suit your needs.
I run a charity organisation. Is it possible to receive a discount on works purchased on ZRF?
In short, no. We occasionally offer discounts to all our customers. We keep our music costs as low as possible to serve our community. Your payment goes back into funding our musicians to produce more quality content for you.
I purchased a licence. Where can I find the download link?
As soon as you’ve created an account and made a purchase you’ll be directed to download your purchase from the download section of your account while still on the website.
Simultaneously, an email will be sent to you with a receipt with a download link for your future reference. If you didn’t receive the email please check your junk or spam folder.
To make sure you receive our emails in the future, add email@example.com to your address book.
Most people receive our email within a few minutes. If you have not received a message with a download link within 20 minutes of your purchase, please contact us. We will rectify the situation as quickly as possible.
What format will the files be in?
You’ll have the choice to download your files either in high quality MP3 or WAV files. Your purchase will be available to you at any time inside your account to download in the future.
There is a voice over on the music I am listening to on your webpage. Will that be removed on purchase?
Yes. Once you purchase the product from ZRF, you will have a clean recording without the voice over stamp.
I purchased a license and the music still has the Zen Royalty Free voiceover on it!
It’s likely that you are still listening to a downloaded preview file. The purchased track and the preview file have the same file name and some applications (including iTunes and iMovie) don’t automatically update the source path every time you download a file.
The best way to fix this is to delete both versions of the song and re-download your purchase from the Download section of your account.
Can I purchase your tracks on CD?
No. Our tracks are only available to be purchased as downloadable MP3 and WAV. files.
Can I download my purchase on my iPhone or iPad?
Apple devices are not suitable to download our tracks. You can however download our music through a computer/laptop and place it on your Apple device as instructed below.
- Download your purchased track to your computer.
- Unzip the zip file sent to you to where you will find your licence agreement, MP3 and WAV file.
- Move the sound file (MP3 or WAV) into your iTunes collection.
- Make sure to sync your iTunes library with your mobile device so it will be available to play on all your Apple devices.
How am I allowed to use the music that I purchase from ZRF?
We offer 3 licence types for your needs. They are SILVER, GOLD AND PLATINUM licences. SILVER licences provide unlimited use, GOLD and PLATINUM licences are single use only.
Music licenced from ZRF can not be shared with other companies for use under the terms of the unlimited use licence. Only your own projects are covered, you will need to purchase a separate licence for each additional use of the ZRF works.
E.g. If you work for an agency and have multiple clients and you want to use the same music track with a SILVER licence with each of them, you would need to purchase a new licence for each client. That client would then be able to use the music track in an unlimited number of projects.

Will I need to fill out any other forms such as public performance rights or cue sheets when I use your music?

I put my video up on YouTube and have received a copyright notice. What do I do now?
Firstly, we are sorry this has happened. You have done nothing wrong and have received a ‘false claim’ from YouTube. This is a standard practice from YouTube and can be easily solved. The licensing you purchased does allow you to use our music on YouTube.
YouTube uses automated software to scan their content, and this often picks up similar music that belongs to a third party, creating a false “Copyright Violation Notice.” You simply need to dispute this claim via the YouTube copyright notices page, providing them with your licence number, track name and the web address where you purchased your content: www.zenroyaltyfree.com
Your dispute will then be reviewed by the third party and in most cases will be released within a 30 day period. You may find that your claim is disputed again. If this is the case, dispute your claim again. You have full rights to use the music purchased at ZRF on YouTube. If your track is then not released, please contact us and we will help you work to resolve your problem.
Please note that your ZRF licence does NOT allow you to upload your project to YouTube’s Content ID system. Zen Royalty Free retains ownership of the recording. Due to the nature of YouTube’s content recognition software, uploading ZRF music to Content ID will cause mistaken copyright claims for other users and for your future projects, and constitutes a violation of our licensing terms.
Can I monetize my work on YouTube?
Yes. You may run ads on your YouTube account with our music. We ask that you provide credit in the description as stated in your licence agreement. Please see below.
Do I have to credit you?
Yes. All ZRF Works are owned by Jason Stephenson and licenced by ZRF. You must ensure that you provide ZRF with a credit in the following prescribed format (except where it is technically unfeasible to do so):
CD / DVD
A credit must be provided in the CD/DVD insert, liner notes and/or on the back cover in the following format:
[Insert Title of Music] by Jason Stephenson. Licensed by Zen Royalty Free
MP3 / Digital Download
A credit must be provided in the metadata for the composer in the following format:
A credit must be provided in the video description in the following format:
[Insert Title of Music] by Jason Stephenson
What can’t I use your music for?
Here are some examples of things you must not do in connection with the ZRF Works:
- Upload the ZRF Works to Spotify or other on demand music platform on its own without any significant modification;
- Distribute the ZRF Works with only superficial modifications (e.g. nature sounds);
- Upload your project to YouTube and then claim that you own the ZRF Works in YouTube’s Content ID;
- Sing or add other musical instruments to the ZRF Works to create a new sound recording; or
- Add subliminal messages or solfeggio frequencies to the ZRF Works to create a new recording and claim this to be your original work.
